In Sonic the Hedgehog 3, the character Knuckles, the echidna, appears for the first time, the keeper of the island, determined by Dr. Robotnik to confront the main characters.

Sonic the Hedgehog (giapponese ソ ニ ッ ク ・ ザ ・ ヘ ッ ジ ホ ッ グ Sonicku za Hejihoggu, in russo “Sonic the Hedgehog”) è un videogioco nel genere platform, in cui il personaggio Sonic the hedgehog è apparso per la prima volta tempo, e con la quale la carriera di uno dei suoi sviluppatori Sonic Team ha iniziato le divisioni di Sega Corporation. Il gioco è stato rilasciato nell’estate del 1991 per la console Sega Mega Drive / Genesis e poi portato su varie piattaforme di gioco per diverse generazioni ed è stato incluso in dozzine di compilation. Secondo la trama, Sonic the Hedgehog vuole impedire al malvagio Dr. Robotnik di ottenere le gemme di Chaos Emeralds e liberare i suoi amici dai nemici robotici.
